Our customers are private and institutional landowners who wish to manage their lands in an ecologically sustainable and responsible manner, by restoring native ecosystems, improving wildlife habitat, and increasing diversity.

Quercus crews have provided land management services to dozens of private landowners in southern and southwestern Wisconsin, and to institutional landowners including:

• The Nature Conservancy
• Prairie Enthusiasts
• U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
• Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
• Dane County Park Commission
• Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection

The landowners we serve typically have different motivations and needs than those of previous generations.   As the nature of agriculture and the patterns of rural land ownership change, new ideas about caring for the land are emerging. Good stewardship today goes beyond making the land more productive for row crops.

Influenced by a growing awareness of ecological principles, many landowners have adopted a broader concept of productivity.    We help them to make the land more ecologically productive by selective cutting of trees, by removing invasive exotic plant species, by encouraging or reintroducing native plants, and by reestablishing the fire regimes under which the native plant communities evolved.
